Listen to immigration expert Samar Shams and employment law expert Fudia Smartt on their engaging, interactive webinar on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on UK immigration and employment. Fudia focused on HR best practice.

Samar addressed Tier 2 sponsorship issues, including furloughing, absences, start date delays and reporting requirements. Samar also leads a discussion on sponsorship best practice.

The team examined the wider government policies on visa extensions, switching to other visa categories from within the UK, and special allowances for Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa holders.

Fudia outlined the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and unknotted particular issues arising from furloughing and redundancies. They considered how to treat holidays and other benefits whilst on furlough leave.

Participants were encouraged to share their experiences as well as ask questions.
